Let’s talk about technical aspects:¿¿What’s really the correlation between set point and dry matter content?

By Liventus inCommodities

For longer the transits, it is recommended to  use increased the CO2 concentrations to have greater control over the fruit’s ripening process, which provides longer marketing  time at destination (shelf life).

As the percentage of Dry Matter (DM) increases, it means that the fruit has a more advanced maturity:

  • 21-26% DM: Younger fruit (longer shelf life).
  • 27% or more DM: Advanced maturity, more postharvest control required (shorter shelf life).

These recommendations allow greater consistency and a longer shelf life of the avocado, being well received by importers.

Also, this differentiation of set point by destination, allows for a diversification of markets, being able to arrive with quality fruit at any part of the world regardless of the transit time.

After different validations, we have managed to establish specific and very effective set points for each percentage of dry matter according to the destination to which the fruit is to be sent (America, Europe or Asia)

Reach us to learn more about these set points differentiated by destination and percentage of dry matter.
